Carbon is a key component of all known life on Earth, representing about 45-50% of all dry biomass. Carbon is abundant on Earth. It is also lightweight and relatively small in size, that make it easier for enzymes to manipulate carbon molecules. It is frequently assumed in astrobiology that if life exists elsewhere in the universe, it will also be carbon-based. In fact, research has been ongoing since the 1960’s, to determine what the proportion of C-14 in the atmosphere and what amount has been for the past 50,000 years.
Carbon-14 (or radiocarbon) is one of the three isotopes that is radioactive and an atomic nucleus containing 6 protons and 8 neutrons. Unlike the isotope of Carbon-12 , C-14 is unstable, meaning the carbon matter will decay into nitrogen over the course of 5,700 years. Its existence in materials is the footing of Radiocarbon dating.
Radiocarbon dating was developed in the 1940’s by Willard Libby, who would go on to receive a Nobel Prize in chemistry in 1960. Measurement of the radiocarbon was originally done by beta counting devices, which counted the amount of beta radiation emitted by the decaying C-14 atoms in a sample.
There are various techniques used as a basis of Radiocarbon Dating principle. Among them, there was one that may be really interesting and beneficial. Testing for isotopes produced after first nuclear bomb test was performed at 1945 in Los Alamos, Nevada, followed by nuclear attacks on Japan cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Indeed, the amounts of radioactive isotopes descended from the nuclear fall-outs on Earth (cesium-137, carbon-14, and strontium-90), leaving ineradicable traces in organic materials. Hence any item produced prior to 1945 should not contain these isotopes, for example books. If books, that claim to have been written before the year 1945, traces of isotopes would not be found.
One of the very few tests performed on the Anne Frank diary pages concluded that the Paper used in the diary was examined by X-ray fluorescence and found to have been manufactured between 1939 and 1942. However, it would be very common and probably easy to find a notebook in the average household that would be at least 10 years old. Another test revealed that the ink used to write the entries contained more iron than pens publicized after 1950. Although, they never revealed their sources or the validity of the test. Even though, the examinations that have been publicly released states that the pen used in the diary of Anne Frank was that of a pen that wasn’t in public circulation until 10 years after the pages were filled and the war had ended. Which leads to the curiosity of more testing and the question as to ‘Why hasn’t there been any til this date?
In addition, there are no excuses that have been made public thus far, as to why there has not been further testing on a book that is supposedly a depiction of (what some people consider a monstrosity carried out by Hitler). If the events of the “Holocaust” were in fact, real events, there were and are avid deniers, wouldn’t it make more sense to have the pages tested for isotopes and offer actual evidence to whether or not this book is credible?
After carefully inspecting the choice of words and their form that were written in the pages of the alleged diary, it surfaces a question, if this extensive vocabulary and the grammatical skills were really the work of just an average Jewish girl enduring such brutal and unfair conditions (that somehow, still managed to keep composure enough for very little errors and at times jotted down, very boring and mundane focal points)? Surely, it goes without saying that any sane person, capable of grasping onto any type of logic, would discover many discrepancies and contradictions throughout the entire book, thus raising the demand for an answer on, Why hasn’t there been radiocarbon C-14 isotope test(s) performed with results released to the entire world on all parts of it?
Being the ones in possession of a part of this “historical book”, The Anne Frank House, should and very well could provide those answers for the public. It would be extremely helpful for this “Museum” to corroborate the legitimacy of the book and offer the book for a full forensic study. At the very least, present an excuse as to why the insufficient and diminutive analysis’ that were never proven have been the only examinations of the book.
